Boom Calm FAQs

Q: How is Boom Calm different than the other Boom skincare products? 

A: Boom Calm’s ingredients set it apart from the rest of our line.  

First, all Boom moisturizers have certain characteristics in common: 

• all-natural ingredients
• made without soy, gluten, parabens, phthalates, GMOs or harmful chemicals
• help protect against environmental stressors
• designed for use on the face and entire body 

So, how is Boom Calm different? First, it’s a completely different texture.

Smooth, creamy Boomsilk^® and buttery, shine-control Boom Cotton^® both come in jars. Boom Calm’s liquid formula comes in a squeezable bottle.

Another difference is that we created Boom Calm to replenish skin that’s been exposed to harsh conditions.

It’s a breeze to apply, absorbs quickly and hydrates your skin without leaving any oily or greasy feeling.  

Along with providing relieving moisture, Boom Calm also:

Q: Can I use this on my face? 

A: Absolutely! 

Although oil-based, Boom Calm’s formula is light, soothing and non-greasy. 

It provides restorative moisture and a slight silky sheen without clogging pores or feeling heavy.

Even better? You can use this light liquid moisturizer on your entire body as well, from your sun-kissed shoulders to your rough, dry feet.

Q: Is this only for “extreme weather?”

A: Not at all. 

While Boom Calm feels like a cool, fresh breeze on skin that’s been exposed to Mother Nature’s extreme heat and cold, you can enjoy this silky, all-over moisturizer any day of the year. 

The inspiration for Boom Calm’s design was the desire for a soothing product for our own tender, sunburned skin. While there are a lot of after-sun products out there, many of them are sticky. 

Some of them contain potentially harmful chemicals. Others address irritated skin but don’t moisturize. 

We wanted to create a unique moisturizer that cooled and soothed while renewing, restoring and hydrating skin at the same time. 

During the formulation process, we also realized that our new moisturizer could provide soothing, calming moisture to the skin after exposure to a variety of environmental conditions while engaged in common activities: 

• Hiking in the spring wind 
• Skiing the slopes 
• Building snowmen in the yard with the grandkids
• In the stands root, root, rooting for the home team
• Raking autumn leaves
• After handwashing (especially frequent handwashing during cold & flu season!)
• Gardening
• Hanging out at the beach / lake / river
• Enjoying a dip in a chlorinated pool or hot tub
• Repeatedly blowing your nose during allergy season
• Sitting in front of a toasty campfire      

Q: Does Boom Calm contain added fragrance?

A: No. 

Here at BOOM!, we never include artificial fragrances in our products. 

Our formulation team thoughtfully chooses each ingredient based on its beneficial properties, some of which impart their own subtle scent. 

Boom Calm’s combination of oils, aloe and witch hazel gives the product a fresh herbal aroma. Not only does this restorative moisturizer soothe and calm the skin, but breathing in its cool, relaxing scent can also soothe and calm the mind.

Because we use essential oils rather than perfumes—and don’t use them in large amounts—Boom Calm’s scent remains pleasantly subtle and dissipates fairly quickly after application.

Q: Can you tell me more about the ingredients? 

A: Yes! We love this question. 

We search the globe for high-quality, sustainably sourced nature-derived ingredients. 

Boom Calm is safe for the whole family to use every day and works wonderfully with all skin types. This soothing, silky formula is also gluten-free, soy-free, GMO-free and cruelty-free. 

Boom Calm is not vegan due to its bee-produced ingredients. (…But it is “beegan!”🐝)

Here is a closer look at the ingredients...

• Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Our cold-pressed, unrefined, organic olive oil contains antioxidant-rich squalene for beautiful hydration. 

• Aloe Vera Gel – This famously moisturizing ingredient soothes and cools overheated, burned, irritated skin and relieves temporary redness.

• Water (Aqua) – Pure water helps extract beneficial properties from our botanical ingredients and emulsify oils to create a smooth, luscious liquid texture.

• Organic Witch Hazel Extract – This astringent helps tone the skin and reduce temporary redness and inflammation.

• Beeswax with Pollen and Propolis – These bee-produced ingredients contain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Beeswax is a natural humectant that helps skin attract and retain water while keeping environmental stressors at bay.

• Raw Hawaiian Wildflower Honey with Naturally Occurring Royal Jelly – Research indicates honey contains antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins and minerals. We use it to soothe, moisturize and leave skin with a healthy-looking glow.

• Calendula Essential Oil – With a subtle woody scent, this oil helps calm inflammation and promotes the appearance of healthy skin.

• Organic Lavender Essential Oil – Most well-known for its calming floral scent, lavender can reduce temporary irritation with a soothing effect on the skin.

• Organic Geranium Essential Oil – Besides its pleasantly sweet floral aroma, geranium also lessens the appearance of inflamed skin.

Q: How do I best use Boom Calm? 

A: For sunburned, chapped, peeling, windburned, dry or otherwise irritated skin: 

1. With the lid closed tightly, shake the bottle well to integrate all of the ingredients. 

2. Squeeze some Boom Calm into the palm of your hand, then apply generously to any areas that need soothing, cooling hydration. 

3. Gently massage into the skin and allow to absorb. 

4. For best results, reapply every few hours, or as desired. 

5. Want additional cooling relief? Store Boom Calm in the refrigerator. 

A: For everyday use:

1. Cleanse as normal. 

2. With the lid closed tightly, shake the bottle well to integrate all of the ingredients. 

3. Squeeze some Boom Calm into the palm of your hand, then apply this full-body moisturizer to your face and/or body.

4. Cup your hands near your nose, take a few deep breaths and recharge with the calming, soothing aroma.

5. Enjoy your day (or sleep peacefully)!

Q: Can I also use it with my other Boom skincare?

A: Absolutely!

Depending on your skin’s needs and preferences, Boom Calm can be used as your only moisturizer, or it can be used for “moisture layering.” 

As with all of our products, we suggest you experiment with different combinations to see what works best for you, but here are some general guidelines…

• Boom Clean^® and Boom Scrub™ Use our daily cleanser and gentle exfoliating scrub to start with clean, fresh skin. Dry skin completely or leave it slightly damp for added moisture retention. 

• Boom Gold™ or Boom Nectar^® When using Boom Calm in conjunction with one of our concentrated liquid moisturizers, apply Gold or Nectar first, allow it to absorb for a moment or two, then apply Boom Calm.

• Boomsilk or Boom Cotton Apply Boom Calm to your clean skin first, allow a moment or two for absorption, then add Boomsilk or Cotton sparingly to boost hydration and protect against moisture loss.

• Boomstick Glo^® After applying Boom Calm, dab Boomstick Glo around the outside of your eyes, around your mouth and on your lips. Spot-treat any particularly dry areas you may have, then drop your Glo into your purse for on-the-go moisture. 

Q: How would I use Boom Calm with Boomsticks?

A: Like all Boom moisturizers, Boom Calm provides a great primer for any makeup, and works great with our Boomstick Trio^®.

1. Apply Boom Calm to clean skin and allow it to absorb for a minute or two. 

2. Dab Boomstick Glo onto your lips.

3. Apply Boomstick Color^® to your cheeks, forehead, and sides of your neck, then blend with your fingers (or a brush if you prefer). Boom Calm will help Boomstick Color glide on and blend effortlessly! Then, apply to your lips.

4. Add Boomstick Glimmer^® to highlight the areas you want, like eyelids, inner and outer eye corners, cupid’s bow or décolletage. 

5. Now that your Boom Calm has had a few minutes to set, finish your look with Boom Bright™ mascara, Boom Brow™ and/or Boom Gloss™.
