Do you love makeup?

Some do, some don’t. But if you love makeup, along with choosing it, applying it and how you look in it, we have a treat for you today.

But there are a few tools that can make applying and wearing makeup easier, safer or more fun.

1. DIY reusable makeup-removing cloths

Keeping your skin healthy depends on keeping your skin clean. That means washing off makeup, environmental pollutants and other impurities before you head to bed each night.

Makeup-removing wipes make that task easier—and reusable wipes you make yourself keep it inexpensive and earth-friendly.

To start, grab a length of soft cotton cloth and cut it into pieces. Small, 2x2 squares work best for removing eye makeup and lipstick. Larger pieces are useful for full-face cleansing. You can use a single layer or stitch or hot glue two pieces together for a more luxurious feel.

Next, soak your cloths in a solution of distilled water and a few drops of your favorite facial cleanser, like Boom Clean^®. Then, store them in a ziplock bag or resealable jar.

Used cloths can go right into the laundry to be washed and reused.

2. Moisturizer spoon or scoop

If you use Boomsilk^®, or any product in a tub or jar, we recommend using a spoon or scoop to remove each portion. Why? Because our hands are a common source of contamination.

You can use a kitchen spoon, measuring spoon or purchase special skincare spatulas or scoops for this purpose. Be sure to wash these regularly as well. (If you prefer to use your hands, just be sure to wash them before you dip into your moisturizer.)

3. Lighted mirror

There are few things more frustrating than trying to apply your makeup in bad lighting. The wrong lighting can cause you to apply too much makeup or blend it improperly.

We suggest applying your makeup in front of a lighted mirror.

Choose a mirror with soft, full-circle lighting to highlight every inch of your face. A mirror that’s small enough to travel with is even better.
