I'm Back

After going through the process of moving and settling into her new home, Cindy is back. Watch the video to hear her thoughts on solely chasing success versus incorporating the enjoyment of life while obtaining goals.

Hi, this is Cindy. And this is my first time back in almost three months. So, welcome to all of you who are new to Saturday with Cindy. And hi everybody, I haven't seen you in so long. Oh my goodness, I made my big move. So, what I've been up to is selling my house in Yonkers, New York, packing up everything, put some things in storage, and coming out to live in a group community, an intentional group living community in Lafayette, California. They're called Lafayette Morehouse and they live life according to what pleasures them. 

So, this is an intentional group community that's existed here since 1968. So, we landed about two weeks ago and we hit the ground running. We're renovating the two bedrooms that we'll be staying in, we are sharing one of six houses with two couples and a child. I already have had a dear friend come to visit who's taken a few courses. And this particular group living situation is set up so we are all students in a course called More Socratic Dialogue. And the name is based on the fact that Socrates noticed that his students learned a lot more through dialogue with each other rather than sitting and listening to him lecture on a particular subject. So, we're all here as students, students of life, students in this experiment--in group living that's been going on for 45 years, and I cannot tell you how amazing it is. We all know that moving is one of those top 10 or top 5 of high-stress situations for human beings, and I can assure you it is. And we did it slowly, we prepared for six months, sold our house. 

Arriving here, I felt so much support from everyone that lives here, and keeping me on track to my goal. And that's what this group is all about, living according to what is pleasurable, which is not an easy task in our pain and goal oriented, and success and production oriented society. It's all about, well, if you're a boomer, you know the phrase "Keeping up with the Joneses," and we're constantly chasing the carrot. And quite often when we get it, we're a little disappointed in the results. So, back in the '60s and '70s a lot of us were experimenting with living less materialistic lives, you know, lightening up our belongings and paying attention to our feelings and our relationships. And I noticed that I just wasn't feeling as fulfilled and gratified as a woman if I only went after success. So, when I bumped into these folks back in '95 and they're living according to what the women want as well, so that's pretty nice. And that was very, very attractive. I'd never seen so many happy women living together with men serving and supporting them. So, I've been here two weeks and I think I made the right choice. So far, so good.

Also, let me know what else you'd like to talk about because I'm up for any of it. We've got three new products, which are the same three boomsticks in pocket size. I knew I liked to lighten up in the summer, I'm not wearing heavy jackets with deep pockets, but I always like to carry my boomsticks. So, you can tuck them in your bra, put them in those little jean pockets so you can still have your color, your glimmer, and your glow, all spring and summer.
