“If you have a dream, go for it…”

dream, go for it…”
“I always wanted to write a novel...had ideas for stories written on little slips of paper for years.
“One day, I realized ‘someday’ was here! I published my first novel under a pen name, Maura Beth Brennan, at the age of 74. I have published several short stories and have a second novel coming out this year. I'm not making much money, but what a great feeling!
“If you have a dream, go for it and don't listen to the naysayers!”—Maureen
“I achieved a childhood dream after 50…”
“I achieved a childhood
dream after 50…”
“I achieved a childhood dream after 50 by taking up horseback riding. I now 'part-own' a horse and am addicted to my time with my mare both in the saddle and out of it.
“It's challenging both physically and mentally (I live in France, so classes are in French, and I now have more vocabulary about horses' anatomy and tack in French than in English.) I have made new friends, and the time outside in nature brings me solace in these troubled times.
“There are forums on the internet, and I have found that there are LOADS of people like me who take up riding in later life, so we share our experiences and our fears. I have done a three-day course in communication with horses and am now doing a diploma in Equine Psychology.
“A Boom user right from the early days, I remain an avid fan of your beautiful products and life philosophy.”—Sarah

“At 61, I'm celebrating the release
of my own chapbook…”
“I began publishing my poems right around the time I turned 50. In my mid-fifties, I co-founded a contemporary poetry journal. And now, at 61, I'm celebrating the release of my own chapbook during National Poetry Month!
“In addition to my writing, I've taken up yoga and meditation, given more time to photography and hiking, and acquired friends around the world thanks to my writing work.”—Kathleen
“It’s a brand-new life that I’m embarking on…”
“It’s a brand new life
that I’m embarking on…”
“I am 60 years old and have become a widow. I have the stress of losing my spouse, but also had to fix a lot of things after he died and am still dealing with them.
“I am moving out of state to be near family and will be able to return to my art again and perhaps do some traveling in the future. It’s a brand-new life that I’m embarking on and it’s both exciting and overwhelming at the same time.” —Marie
“Each year, I climb
a little higher...”
“Each year, I climb a little higher...”
“I started my business creating artwork for t-shirts. It was out of necessity—I was a stay-at-home mom with two school-age boys and my husband, who had been battling cancer for the last three years of life, passed away.
“I had a career before kids but would never consider going back to that kind of work, so I scrambled, wondering what I could possibly do and who would ever hire a 50-year-old. I am an artist/illustrator by trade, and that last career killed my creative side for a long time. I had to make a decision as to what I needed to do to support myself and my kids, so I started my business.
“It's been over three years now. I mainly sell online and just started selling on my own website. I basically run everything...from being the artist to the website builder, marketer, tech person, accountant, etc. I wear many hats but I really enjoy what I do. It hasn't been easy, entrepreneurship definitely has its ups and downs, but I celebrate every sale I make and notice that each year I climb a little higher up my personal success ladder.”—Joan
“I totally LOVE these BOOMING years!”

BOOMING years!”
“Looking back, I have definitely followed the trend of reinventing myself! At 50, I was drawn to start painting. Without any classes, I was fortunate enough to paint to most people's likings and sold just about anything I painted for the next ten years.
“At 60, I re-entered my passion for dance as I was much engaged in this in my earlier life. I once again took up flamenco. After meeting my new man/partner, a semi-retired flamenco dancer, we embarked on a sensational ten years of performing throughout the country! In the meantime learning to speak Spanish, since my man speaks only that language.
“Now at 70, I have just finished writing a book together with my son. I totally LOVE these BOOMING years!”—Jeannette
