Aminah Smith says she faced resistance to her silver hair early in life.

Her first silver strands appeared in her teens and grew more prominent with time. 

In college, and later graduate school, friends would encourage her to either cut or dye her lovely silver locks. 

One friend even implied she’d have an easier time getting a job if she dyed her hair.

But the lovely Aminah just didn’t agree.

“Through all of these friends’ advice, I always labored under the impression that my hair is gorgeous,” she says.

Today, 62-year-old Aminah shares her silver-hair story.
