Celebrating a Year of Boom Ladies’ Night
Celebrating a Year of Boom Ladies’ Night
Boom Ladies’ Night has been a blast since day one.
For the past year, we’ve enjoyed hearing our guests’ pro-age stories, exciting makeup and skin-care tips and inspiring silver-hair journeys.
To celebrate the anniversary of this uplifting series, we’re sharing our favorite moments from these conversations—so far.
We invite you to join us for a look back at an amazing year of Boom Ladies’ Night.
Boom Ladies’ Night begins
For our very first Boom Ladies’ Night, longtime Boom Ambassadors Beth Maxwell and Dulcy Stewart joined Boom COO Colleen Taylor to discuss beauty and the Pro-age Revolution.
Our Favorite Moment
During the live hangout, Colleen asked, “What is beauty to you now?”
Dulcy replied, “I'm really enjoying pictures of different people I've seen lately. I've seen some beautiful photography profiling women in their 80s and 90s. And I don't mean all made up or dolled up in any way, just really natural, beautiful photos.”
Silver-hair stories with Dulcy, Mireya and Kat
We really got into the swing of things during our second event. Dulcy returned and we introduced her fellow Ambassadors Mireya Olmos and Kat Garza. Colleen hosted a wonderful evening of pro-age inspiration with unique makeup and skin-care tips.
Why we loved it
The silver-hair stories were the highlight of this Boom Ladies’ Night.
Kat, now a silver-haired model, began her journey during a difficult period in her life. But as her silver hair grew, so did her self-esteem.
She says, “The more gray that came in, the better I liked it and the more compliments I got. I started to let it grow and my self-confidence began to soar.”
All three women offered advice for anyone thinking about going silver: “Just do it! It’s your hair. It’s your choice.”
Pro-age inspiration with Dina, Mireya and Sandy
Mireya returned for this conversation, joining Colleen and Boom Ambassadors Dina Dillon and Sandy Evenson, to share pro-age inspiration, tips and more.
Our favorite moment
This evening was packed with fascinating stories from our guests, including Dina, who knew Cindy Joseph personally.
In another particularly poignant moment, Mireya described seeing Cindy Joseph with her silver hair in a magazine and hoping to be like her one day.
Now, Mireya is a Boom Ambassador and a silver-haired model—just as she’d imagined.
The reinvention experts: Sandy and LaJuan
During this Boom Ladies’ Night focused on reinvention and creativity, Colleen was joined by 71-year-old Sandy Evenson and singer-songwriter LaJuan Carter-Dent.
Why we loved it
Sandy reinvented herself as a transformational coach after a long career as a hairstylist.
She shared these inspiring words for other women considering a later-in-life reinvention: “As we get older, we finally see that we have a lot to give and a lot to share. We don’t need to stay quiet. We don’t need to play small. We can really do more.
“Never stay stuck where you are. You’re never too old.”
Special-occasion makeup with Karen and Jenny
Just before the holidays, Colleen invited Boom Ambassadors Karen Klumpp and Jenny Johnson for live makeup demos.
Why we loved it
If you love makeup demos and skin-care tips, you’ll love this. Colleen showed up without makeup so she could demonstrate how she creates her daily Boom look and her look for holidays and special occasions.
Then, Jenny described her unique “mini-facial” routine and Karen shared her Boom tips for dewy skin and a radiant complexion.
Cindy and Sandy talk “slow fashion” and gratitude
Cindy Sitcov and Sandy Berg joined Colleen for a fascinating chat about slow fashion and gratitude.
Why we loved it
Have you heard of a “retail cleanse?”
During this Ladies’ Night, Cindy and Colleen shared their experiences with giving up buying clothes, accessories and shoes for an entire year.
On top of that, Sandy shared a tip for Boomstick Glimmer that inspired Cindy to try it out—live!
“Honest and Joyful Aging” with Margaret and Susan
During our most recent Boom Ladies’ Night, Colleen welcomed guests Margaret Evans and Susan Esco for makeup demos, silver-hair stories and thoughts on “honest and joyful aging.”
Why it’s special
Margaret shared the inspiring story of how she discovered Cindy Joseph and BOOM!
While researching a story about aging, she looked around for role models that resonated with the way she wanted to age. “I wanted to be able to radiate my joy through my face into the world, through the way I looked,” Margaret said.
But role models like this were few and far between—until she discovered Cindy Joseph. “She looked like an older woman who absolutely loved being older,” Margaret says. Soon after, she ordered her first Boomstick and became a Boom Ambassador!
We hope this year of Boom Ladies’ Night has been as inspiring for you as it has been for all of us at BOOM! We’ve loved every moment and look forward to many more.
